Zachry Group acquires nuclear specialty firm CSA.
SAN ANTONIO, TX (Feb. 4, 2015) — Zachry Nuclear Engineering, Inc. (ZNE), a Zachry Group company, has acquired Computer Simulation & Analysis, Inc. (CSA), a diversified engineering consulting company specializing in nuclear safety and operational transient analysis, power plant simulation and computer software development for engineering applications. CSA, based in Idaho Falls, Idaho, also provides general support in nuclear safety licensing issues. Principal clients include electric utilities, nuclear power plant designers and developers, and research organizations.
Founded in 1988, CSA is staffed by mechanical and nuclear engineers and computer scientists with extensive experience in nuclear reactor core and associated systems analysis. The company was recognized by the U.S. Small Business Administration with a Tibbetts Award for its innovative and technical accomplishments and participation in the Small Business Innovation Research Program.
CSA will operate within the numerical applications division of ZNE. The acquisition will allow ZNE to more fully meet the needs of customers in the nuclear industry, and will provide CSA’s clients with access to a broad base of resources via Zachry Group.
CSA Owner and Project Manager Mark Paulsen noted, “We’re excited about the opportunity to bring CSA’s services to a larger network of clients as a result of our new affiliation with ZNE.” CSA Co-Owner Garry Gose added, “We look forward to being an integral part of ZNE’s bright future in the commercial nuclear power industry.”
ZNE President Mark Mills said, “We’re pleased to welcome CSA into the Zachry Nuclear organization. The addition of CSA expands our presence in the northwest U.S. while also adding complementary skills to better provide our nuclear clients with solutions to the most demanding problems facing the industry today. Coupling these solutions with Zachry’s engineering, procurement and construction capabilities offers our customers comprehensive support for the lifecycle of their facilities.”
ZNE provides engineering, design, and project management services to support operation of the existing fleet of 100 U.S. nuclear plants. These services include nuclear power plant system analysis and problem investigation, evaluation of code and regulatory compliance, conceptual design and feasibility studies, and design of plant upgrades and modifications. ZNE also provides its proprietary system modeling software which is currently being used by the majority of U.S. nuclear plants.
